Speak your answer instead of typing it: every box you write an answer in now has a đ¤ Dictate button â short answers, the recall boxes in the narrated sessions, and the Level 3 design tasks. Tap it and say your answer. The words land where your cursor is rather than replacing what you have written, so you can type a bit and speak a bit. Read it back before you submit â it mishears trade words, and âinventedâ where you said âunventedâ costs you the mark. Needs Chrome or Safari; on a browser without speech the button simply isnât there.
Design assignments â practice at the synoptic (Level 3): six full design jobs, one per system â boosted cold water, hot water, heat loss and emitters, plant sizing, soil stacks and guttering. You get a real brief and work it end to end, and it marks the way City & Guilds mark design work: error carried forward, so one slip costs one mark rather than the whole job. Find them on the new đ Design pill at the top of any Level 3 unit.
Working cutaways â taps and valves that actually work: new label tasks where you open the component yourself and watch what happens inside. Drag the slider on a rising-spindle stop valve and the head, spindle and jumper all lift together, with water passing only once the washer clears the seat â then do the same on a non-rising spindle tap and see the head stay put. Gate valves, ceramic disc taps and single and double check valves too. The labels move with the parts, so you name each one while it's working.
Before that
Sort and Fill the Gaps: two new task types. Sort boards ask you to put every statement with the thing it belongs to (and some are true of more than one). Fill the Gaps gives you a passage with dropdown blanks. Both lock in your first-try score, so read before you click.
Pipe Up â build a system: new hands-on tasks where you draw a whole hot water system from scratch, pipe by pipe â single-feed indirect, double-feed indirect and combination cylinders (Unit 206), plus the cold water systems in Unit 205. Name each pipe, pick the right size, and get it 100% right first time to pass.
Unvented Hot Water: our short course on unvented hot water systems is now complete â covering the safety devices, discharge pipework and the Part G3 requirements. Find it at plumbmatemastery.co.uk/unvented.
Everything now tracked: label tasks and Pipe Up builds are recorded like any quiz â look for the new Tasks column in each unitâs progress table. Where a lesson has several tasks or Short Answer sets, one button now opens a list showing what youâve passed.
PlumbMate Gas: our new revision add-on for domestic gas ACS reassessment (CCN1, CKR1, HTR1, CENWAT1 and CPA1) is now available at plumbmatemastery.co.uk/gas.
For learners: a full suite of games for every unit (matching, speed rounds, image-matching, anagrams), live class games you can join in the lesson, and a searchable glossary with tap-for-definition terms throughout the app. The "⨠Generate my study plan" button on every Key Revision page is still here too â the AI reads your quiz history and writes you a personal plan.
For tutors: host live class games straight from your dashboard â pick a game type and unit, and the class joins on their own devices (play along and top the leaderboard yourself). Plus the AI toolkit: per-learner insights, personalised study plans, and printable PDF reports for parents' evenings, IQA samples or cohort reviews.
